Who is it for?

The Real Estate Negotiation Expert (RENE) certification is for real estate professionals who want to sharpen their negotiation skills. The RENE certification program gives REALTORS® the tips and tools they need to be skillful advocates for their clients.What You Gain

How to Earn It

Education

• Complete the two-day course online(link is external) or in a classroom(link is external).

• There is no exam requirement for this certification.

Professional Affiliation

• Member in good standing of the National Association of REALTORS®

Application

• The application will be sent to you after you’ve completed the required courses.

Cost

• The course price varies by provider. Please contact your state or local association for pricing.

Melanie McLane Melanie McLane is a second-generation REALTOR®, who is an appraiser, broker and educator. Recently awarded REALTOR® Emeritus status, she has been in real estate all of her adult life. A graduate of Kenyon College, Gambier Ohio, she holds the following designations and certifications: ABR, CRB, CRS, EPRO, GREEN, GRI, RAA, RSPS, PSA, SRES, SRS; she is also certified as a distance instructor (CDEI) and is an Appraiser Qualifications Board approved USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) Instructor. She has written numerous courses, both for her own use, and as works for hire for other educational companies including Hondros College and the National Association of Realtors (NAR), and several state realtor associations. She also served as a SME/author for the Pricing Strategy Advisor Course for NARA, as well as other NAR courses, including RSPS. She has served as President for her local association, West Branch Valley Association of REALTORS®; two terms as District Vice-President for the Pennsylvania Association of REALTORS®; and on various NAR committees, task forces, and forums. In 2008, she was inducted into the REBAC Hall of Fame as an instructor, and in 2012, she was named RSPS of the Year for her contributions to the RSPS course. Her local association has honored her with the “Spirit Award”, the “Outstanding Achievement Award” and twice with “REALTOR® of the Year.” In 2018, the Pennsylvania Association of REALTORS® named her REALTOR® of the Year. She continues to list, sell and appraise, as well as teach. In her free time, she enjoys gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

What are the added fees?

There are 2 types of convenience fees: 1. Eventbrite Service Fee & 2. Payment Processing fee of 3%.

How can I avoid the convenience fees?

Simply send a check payable to: Idaho REALTORS®. Address the envelope to Amanda Pannell at Idaho REALTORS® 10116 W. Overland Rd. Boise, ID 83709. Be sure to write “RENE” in the memo.

What are my parking options for the class?

Parking is available onsite at Boise Regional REALTORS®.

What can I bring into the classroom?

Feel free to bring snacks and drinks. There will be complimentary coffee and snacks as well. Lunch will not be provided. There will be a 1-hour lunch break for those who wish to go off-site. Feel free to bring your own lunch.

What is prohibited during the class?

The use of any electronic devices is not permitted during class time, unless required as part of the course. This includes texting, checking messages, note taking, incoming and outgoing class, or any activities not related to the instruction of the course content.

What is the attendance policy?

According to IREC policy, “Regular attendance means 100% attendance at all sessions of a live prelicense or continuing education (CE) course.” A student who misses any portion (even a few minutes) of a course may not receive credit. The Commission obligates instructors and course providers to monitor student attendance and strictly enforce this attendance policy.

Can I bring my child?

No. Please arrange for childcare ahead of each class. No exceptions. You will be turned away.

What’s the refund policy?

30 days prior to the first class for a full refund. No refunds will be awarded within 72 hours of the course.
