Idaho REALTORS® wrapped up a South District Open House tour after visiting all three local associations and connecting directly with members in their own communities. Ahead of the North District stops next week, we wanted to take a moment to review what was shared at the Mini Cassia Association meeting and talk about what members have to look forward to in the meetings ahead. Local leaders and members shared a common theme: they want more participation and greater engagement from their fellow REALTORS®. The second regular session of the 68th Idaho Legislature ended on April 2nd, and it was one of the strongest sessions for housing in recent memory. Idaho REALTORS® Government Affairs Director Max Pond breaks down four bills that crossed the finish line this session — each one moving the needle on property rights, housing attainability, and homeowner flexibility across Idaho. Here’s what passed: House Bill 583 — Short-Term Rentals: Following a legal victory at the Idaho Supreme Court, HB 583 reinforces that short-term rentals must be treated the same as long-term rentals. No registration, licensing, or additional compliance requirements. Effective July 1, 2026.
