2026 Midterm Results for IR Endorsed Candidates
The votes are in, and it was a good night for Idaho REALTORS®. Our endorsed candidates won 69 of 72 races. It’s a strong result for IR heading into the 2027 legislative session, and it came from both sides of the aisle.
Federal and Statewide Races
At the federal and statewide levels, all 8 of our endorsed candidates won their respective races. This included U.S. Representatives Russ Fulcher and Mike Simpson, U.S. Senator Jim Risch, Governor Brad Little, Lt. Governor Scott Bedke, Attorney General Raul Labrador, Secretary of State Phil McGrane and Superintendent of Public Instruction Debbie Critchfield.
Legislative Races
Several candidates we supported starting in the primary won in November. In District 11, Debbie Geyer defeated an incumbent in the May primary and went on to win her seat. In District 25, Casey Swensen and Cherie Vollmer did the same.
Three REALTOR® members are also headed to the Legislature: Cherie Vollmer, Kelly Walton, who won an open seat in District 22, and James Holtzclaw in District 20.
In the Legislature, Democrats gained five House seats and one Senate seat. In January, the House will have 56 Republicans and 14 Democrats, and the Senate will have 28 Republicans and 7 Democrats.
Endorsed candidates lost in only three competitive races: the District 15 Senate and House Seat B races in West Boise, and the District 29 House Seat A race in Pocatello.
Thank you to every member who took the time to vote this year. Staying involved in local and state elections is part of being an engaged member of your community, and we appreciate everyone who did. We look forward to working with Idaho’s elected officials, new and returning, in the year ahead.
Looking Ahead: Day at the Capitol Is February 2
Join us on Tuesday, February 2, for the Membership Symposium and REALTOR® Day at the Capitol, held in the Lincoln Auditorium on the Garden Level of the Idaho State Capitol.
The day starts with the Membership Symposium from 9:00 a.m. to noon. This is a new IR event in 2027, open to every Idaho REALTORS® member, and covers what’s ahead for the industry and the association.
Day at the Capitol follows, beginning at 1:30 p.m. You’ll hear from state leaders, get a preview of the issues we’re watching this session and have a chance to meet the legislators who represent you.
Afterward, IR will host its annual legislative reception at the Crystal Ballroom with legislators, constitutional officers and REALTORS® from across the state in attendance.
